CSC Scholarship at NJU — what's covered

Nanjing University participates in three CSC scholarship tracks: Type A (Embassy-nominated), Type B (University-nominated) and the Bilateral Program. Type B is the most common path for Pakistani Masters and PhD applicants.

  • Full tuition waiver (worth CNY 30,000–45,000/year).
  • Free on-campus accommodation at Xianlin International Student dorms.
  • Monthly stipend: CNY 3,000 (Masters) / CNY 3,500 (PhD).
  • Comprehensive medical insurance.
  • One-time settlement allowance on arrival.

HSK & language requirements

  • English-medium Masters/PhD: IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL 80 — most Pakistani applicants submit an MOI letter from their previous university.
  • Chinese-medium programs: HSK 5 (180+) for humanities, HSK 4 (210+) for science and engineering.
  • HSK is not required for English-taught programs but a one-year Chinese foundation is offered to scholarship holders.

2026 application timeline

  1. October–November 2025: Shortlist supervisors (PhD) and prepare documents.
  2. December 2025: Online application opens on NJU's international admissions portal.
  3. January–February 2026: Submit CSC application via chinesescholarshipcouncil.com and NJU portal.
  4. March–April 2026: Interview (PhD only) and supervisor confirmation.
  5. May–June 2026: CSC results announced, admission letter and JW201 issued.
  6. July–August 2026: Visa processing and travel arrangements.
  7. September 2026: Arrival and orientation at Xianlin campus.

Campus life for Pakistani students

NJU's Xianlin campus has a Pakistani Students Association with 200+ active members, a dedicated prayer room, and halal food at two on-campus canteens. Nanjing's Jingjue Mosque (one of the oldest in China) is a 25-minute metro ride away, and the city has a thriving Muslim cuisine quarter near Confucius Temple.
